SpayVA Changing Grant Process
Grant Application DEADLINE March 1,2018
The Virginia Federation of Humane Societies, SpayVA program is announcing a change to its annual conference grant process. In years past, we have provided grant monies to all requesting members who were in attendance at the conference through a double-blind draw process. Starting in 2017, applications will be reviewed by VFHS and a minimum of 5 grants will be awarded on the basis of greatest impact, ability to conduct services, and overall need. Grantees will be notified via email by 3/20/17 if they have received funding. Some major changes to take notice of:
Timeframe and reporting: The timeframe to use funding has changed to 6 months and a total of TWO reports will be required during that period. One report will be due no later than July 31st and the 2nd and final report will be due no later than October 31st. Grant recipients will be given the format for reporting at the award ceremony.
“I am so delighted that the Virginia Federation of Humane Societies, through its SPAYVA program can support spay/neuter efforts in the Commonwealth. I am especially excited about this new approach to grant making by SPAYVA. In order for our efforts to be effective, it is vital that we constantly evaluate programming needs and use available resources wisely for the greatest impact. VFHS members all across the state are delivering critical services to their communities and it is a privilege to be able to support that great work however and whenever we can.”~Debra Griggs, VFHS President
“The Martinsville Henry County SPCA has been blessed to receive conference grant funding from SpayVA over the past three years. Without this program, several hundred animals would not have received their spay/neuter surgeries, further contributing to the overpopulation of animals in Virginia and needless euthanasia. This to us has been a greater impact than just the numbers we have reported. It is a movement toward NO-Kill success and overall the right thing to do. We are thrilled for the SpayVA new grant process, and wish it, along with all VA spay/neuter programs, much success.”~Donna Belcher, Spay Neuter Coordinator for MHCSPCA
